Foreword from the Organization’s Executive Director
Dear Esteemed Partners,
Sharing with you what we have been up to for the past year brings me great joy. Thanks to our primary funder, The Malala Fund, for their kind support in making the Sauti Zetu Project a success, the road toward promoting equal access to education for young girls had accomplishments and lessons.
Sauti Zetu, one of our key initiatives, has had a tremendous impact on the growth of the organization and, most importantly, the lives of the beneficiaries. Every project experience is carefully taken into account as a part of our growth and development, and it is incorporated into our strategies for continuing the high standard of work that we have been producing.
We were able to directly engage with the people and learn more about what might be more effective in advancing the cause of ending child marriage in Tanzania by increasing community awareness of the detrimental effects of child marriage and how it affects girls’ right to education. We learned that in order for a girl to fully exercise her right to an education, we must all work together to combat patriarchal systems that have made it difficult to achieve gender equality as well as lobby for changes to Tanzania’s marriage legislation, which hasn’t been updated in half a century.
As a youth-led organization, we consistently gain knowledge from every experience and apply it to enhance our capacity to not only achieve Sauti Zetu’s objectives but, more significantly, to fulfill the organization’s vision and mission.
Best regards,
Elias Maeda,
Organization Leader.
