The primary aim of the workshop is to inspire filmmakers to incorporate the concept of human rights into their narratives, essentially telling stories of human interest from a human rights perspective. It will also serve as a platform for filmmakers to understand how to collaborate with journalists, ensure that the themes in their films reflect current issues, and effectively utilise data to portray the extent of the challenges they are addressing.
Capacity Building to Human Rights Film Screenings Organisers
In this year’s festival, we are introducing a new initiative: Capacity Building for Human Rights Film Screening Organisers. Film screenings focused on promoting human rights are relatively uncommon in Tanzania. With this program, we aim to empower at least 15 film screening organisers. We believe that by doing so, we will create more avenues and spaces for discussions about the importance of human rights.
Performing Arts
Particularly in the suburban areas of the Coastal region where film screenings will take place, we will engage with local performing arts groups. This collaboration serves as a mobilisation strategy and also utilises various art forms to enhance community understanding of the topics we will be addressing.
Female Filmmakers Masterclass
The upcoming Sauti Zetu Film Festival’s second edition will maintain its commitment to empowering and offering a platform for female filmmakers to showcase their talent. Our goal is to provide training for a minimum of 10 female filmmakers, connecting them with accomplished female filmmakers for inspiration. These filmmakers will be organised into groups and supported with resources to create their own projects.
